Best VPS 1 vCPU · 512 MB RAM
512 MB of memory on 1 vCPU — the bottom rung — below this it is shared hosting. What follows are the measurements: same configuration, different hosts, and a spread you will not find in any price list.

So far this is the only host we have tested on this configuration — there is nothing to compare it against yet. The ranking becomes meaningful once others are added.
What a 1 vCPU · 512 MB VPS is
1 vCPU against 512 MB. With one thread there is nothing to parallelise: a background job and a user request fight over the same core. Formally that is 0.5 GB per core, but calling it a lean would be wrong: both resources are scarce at once. This is simply a minimum machine — choose it by the job, not by the balance.
512 MB means one job at a time. A bot, a proxy, a VPN for yourself, serving static files. About 286 MB will actually be free, and any Node.js build no longer fits. Swap is mandatory, or OOM.
Disk decides here. With 512 MB the system has nothing to cache with and constantly reads from storage. Two servers with the same plan line can differ several-fold in IOPS — and that is the one thing you will notice.
Every server in the table was tested on one configuration — 1 vCPU and 512 MB. So a difference in scores is a difference in hardware, packing density and network quality — not in how much someone bought. We do not publish prices: they cannot be determined from a server, so go to the host for cost; the performance comparison is already done.
